Sun…sea…music and jumping castles made yesterday’s "We Can’t Be Beaten" tribute concert a great day.

In front of an estimated 1,800 crowd, local bands paid tribute to the heroes and volunteers who came to the region’s aid during the "storm".

"The sun came out…crowd were keyed up and we rocked" said event organiser Craig "Rosie" Rosevear

"Also…I would like to personally thank the staff at Companion Credit Union for not only financially supporting this community event, but selling our tribute "We Can’t Be Beaten" music single".

The "We Can’t Be Beaten" music single is still available at any Companion Credit Union branch with all proceeds being donated to the local SES.

The Sydney Roosters continued Brad Fittler’s unbeaten record as coach with a late 20-17 NRL victory over a courageous Newcastle at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

Centre Mitchell Aubusson stepped and spun his way over the tryline with three minutes remaining to hand the Roosters successive victories since club great Fittler assumed the coaching duties after Chris Anderson’s resignation.

It was an unfortunate finish for the gutsy Knights who were playing without injured NSW Origin stars Danny Buderus, Steve Simpson and Jarrod Mullen, while Adam Woolnough was also a late withdrawal due to a virus.

Newcastle led for most of the match but were unable to hold out a determined Roosters side who remain in 15th place but moved further away from a wooden spoon finish with a four-point gap over Penrith.

8.10am Sunday 22 July 2007: Weather is clearing and concert is on. All welcome.

Newcastle foreshore park is set to rock on Sunday 22 July with the ‘We Can’t Be Beaten’ Concert and Family Fun Day.

The event is the brainchild of local musician Craig "Rosie" Rosevear who wanted to pay tribute to the workers and heroes of the June Longweekend Storms. Rosevear has assembled a great lineup of local talent including acts for the kids and rock fans alike.

There will be jumping castles, food and more available on the day.

The concert finale will be an all-in rendition of the Rose Tattoo classic ‘We Can’t Be Beaten’, the very appropriate song that Rosevear recorded with The Newie Allstars. The single will be available for purchase on the day at the Companion Credit Union tent, with all proceeds going to the local SES.

Bring the family down for a big day of fun and great music, and say thanks to all the volunteers and heroes that helped during the Hunter’s time of need.

The event is thanks to Companion Credit Union, with support from Hunters Best, NBN, Sticky Advertising, Rosie’s School of Rock, ONE80 Digital Post, Lake Audio  and E Group

Please note: concert will not proceed in the event of rain. At 8.10am Sunday morning….weather is clearing and concert is on.
