NEWCASTLE Jets captain Jade North has pleaded with the club to find a support runner for Joel Griffiths as the club’s play-offs hopes continue to hang in the balance.
"It’s really tough on Joel," North said.
"He’s the only one scoring and we need someone else to do it.
"The next three weeks on the road will determine our season. We have Queensland, Sydney and Melbourne in a row. Tough, eh?"
Jets coach Gary van Egmond is at loggerheads with owner Con Constantine and football director Remo Nogarotto for not delivering an attacking player.
There was talk that Colombian Milton Rodriguez was returning to the Jets and that Nogarotto had also been negotiating with two Italian players.
The Jets held A-League leaders Central Coast to a scoreless draw on Sunday and were lucky that other results went their way, meaning they remain fourth.
But they are likely to be without Olyroos striker Mark Bridge, who missed the game against the Mariners, for another three weeks, and also Jason Hoffman.

A second half brace from Matilda’s striker, Katie Gill, secured the Newcastle Jets Women’s team a 4-2 victory over the Sydney FC Women’s team at home yesterday.
It was to be Sydney who would open the scoring though, with Heather Garriock stunning the healthy home crowd with a strike in the 3rd minute of action.
Matilda’s star, Caitlin Munoz, then leveled matters on 15 with a stunning first time strike from all of 30 yards. It was a screamer which the Sydney goalkeeper could only watch hit the back of the net.
The Pacific Star cruise ship will visit Newcastle and the Hunter on Tuesday 27 November to kick-start what promise to be the busiest cruise season ever for Cruise Hunter.
The cruise season from November 2007 to March 2008 will see a total of six cruise ship visits to Newcastle attracting a record number of 12,000 visitors to the Hunter Region injecting an estimated $2-3 million dollars into the local economy.

A BLAST ripped through a hotel in a NSW Hunter Valley hotel after a bomb planted in a poker machine room detonated.
The explosion at Cessnock’s Wentworth Hotel happened shortly before 1.30am (AEDT), blowing out up large a window in a ground floor poker machine room.
Firefighters said an explosive device was recovered from inside the room.
Twelve people sleeping upstairs, including the manager, escaped unhurt, Cessnock fire station officer Mark Williams said.
Detectives from Sydney and bomb specialists were searching the room today.
Mr Williams said he heard the blast from the fire station, about 300m from the hotel.
When crews arrived there was a strong smell of gunpowder and a front window had been blown out, showering the pavement with glass.
"Most of the damage is confined to the front room, where the device was found," Mr Williams said.
There were suggestions the blast may have targeted a cash machine but this could not be confirmed.
"It’s just an unusual incident it’s hard to say what the motive was," Mr Williams said.
