The Hunter Development Corporation has unveiled plans for a new park in Hunter Street, between the Newcastle Community Health Centre building (670 Hunter St) and the TAFE building in Newcastle West.
Hunter Development Corporation General Manager, Craig Norman, said the park, which features extensive landscaping, is designed to be a picturesque open space.
“Over the coming months Novocastrians will notice the transformation from derelict vacant city block to a picturesque recreational space for workers, tourists and residents to enjoy.

QantasLink has confirmed that it will suspend all its Newcastle-Sydney, Newcastle-Melbourne and Newcastle-Brisbane services from Newcastle Airport effective 10 March 2008. The suspension is expected to remain until at least July 2008.
The suspension is due to a higher than normal pilot attrition rate and the training of pilots on the new Dash 8 Q400 aircraft.

The Newcastle Jets are the 2008 Hyundai A-League Champions! The Jets defeated the Central Coast Mariners 1-0 in front of over 36,000 fans at the Sydney Football Stadium today.
The opening period, and indeed the majority of the game, was dominated by the team from the Hunter, as their astute passing game troubled the Mariners no end.

Foundation Director of Research, Robin Mcdonald, says that increased housing demand and consumer spending, and a strong mining sector are also making a major contribution to the local economy. The ongoing strength of mining in the Region is assured for the current year, with coal prices set to rise and continued demand from China and Asia.
