Greater Building Society’s new chief executive Don Magin has announced several new appointments as he takes the reigns at one of Australia’s largest building societies.

Mr Magin took up the post on April 3, following the retirement of long serving CEO John Arnold. He has appointed IT infrastructure manager Geoff Sullivan as chief information officer. Long time consultant to the Greater, John Dwyer, has been confirmed as head of marketing.

Another long serving employee, Phil Baker, was appointed by the Board to replace Magin as deputy chief executive officer. Baker retains his role of company secretary.

Port Waratah Coal Services has released details of a one billion dollar post-2010 expansion plan that would enable coal output from its Newcastle operation to be boosted by forty percent.

The plan is the next phase of PWCS’ long-term expansion strategy, which has already seen one billion dollars committed to its Kooragang Island site since 1999.

The Hunter Development Corporation announced that two proponents remain in the running for the redevelopment of 240 hectares of industrial employment lands at Tomago.

Hunter Development Corporation Chairman Paul Broad said the remaining two proponents offered a range of industrial uses which would provide for hundreds of jobs during construction and potentially thousands of new permanent jobs.
